Well this things been around for quite a while(didnt use it myself cos i wasnt really sure about whether it was legal) And since i havnt noticed an awful lot of other ppl talking about it either i figure it aint too well known,Or people know about it and use it on the quiet ;)

I just noticed a news post on Vitality saying its legal so ill just cut and paste what theyve said:

There have been some debat about a little program that you can add to your TFC, a so called hook. Most hooks as we know them are cheat hooks which contain wallhacks or other nasty stuff. This hook however is the opposit and adds a few nice features.
1. fog removal in water (removes the difference between a d3d and opengl user on well)
2. flagtimer - see how long the flag have been dropped (not unlike the old YWZ timer from germany or a simple watch)
3. clock (what time is it)
4. Crosshair (a big fat green one, if you dont like your own)
5. winamp control

Is this allowed in Vitality? yes it is. Some admins like it some dont, but all agree it cannot be looked at as a cheat. If you got questions about it you can talk to Phero who usually is around in #kosm |
Im not altogether sure of my thoughts on it,But i figure if its out there then everyone should know about it...Id be interested in peoples opinions :)

csguard will never flag nemesis unless it specifically looks for nemesis.exe
Even the xqz stuff that was in it in a previous release (which doesn't work anymore), won't get flagged, cos it uses different aliases. There are ways of cheating which are virtually undetectable, we can only hope valve will sort out their anti cheating stuff.
TFX was just looking for any excuse. Get me the details of his case and he'll probably be banned from UKTFCL.
As a side not UKTFCL will be banning alot of the sprite modifications(same as ETFCL really), and a few cvars from being changed, will all be announced, so check up on the UKTFCL site about it, and don't be going mad if you get caught for something you apparantly weren't told about. |

I wouldn't guarantee it obviously, a server admin might not like nemesis and decide to flag it, if you got flagged with nemesis you wouldn't be banned from any leagues that allow it obviously.
There's a "worse" timer that could just as easily be flagged anyway.
Nemesis does not contain any variables and files from currently scanned cheats, hence will not get flagged, in fact seeing as hl can only have one hook at a time (correct me if I'm wrong, literally) those using nemesis won't have other cheats running, and nemesis can easily be shown by taking a screenie and showing the flag timers + clock top right, + nemesis menu on screen (a person flagged with a cheat could then use photo shop to "make" a screenshot like that however, so it's not perfect). If flagged with ogc/xqz/viperg, then u have those files present, and will be treated as a cheat.

You are asking for trouble by allowing that in my opinion. Mainly because everyone will try and avoid cheat allegations on the basis of it and just create extra work for admins in sorting it out. Yes it may be a weak excuse and probably pointless but that hasn't stopped people (ie. RiTCH) coming up with much shitter ones.
I played the majority of the games for =BC= (when I was good :p) with a totally fresh install of TFC each time. I had to because they wiped the Uni PCs every day :) I used default settings for just about everything. You don't need all this fancy shit to play well, just a bit of old fashioned skill.

I tried this program, quite useful but i decided to get rid of it as when the valve anti cheat thing comes out you wont be able to use game hooks AT ALL from what ive heard, no hooks will run hl, just hl.exe itself...
So i wouldnt get to used to that flag timer/winamp control etc as youll be losing it anyway sometime in the near future.. |
