Rules...
Rules are nice. Rules make things more controlable.
But what happens if you have to many rules?
People are gonna interpret rules their way, they are gonna forget rules, and people will work around the rules because one rule will neutralize the other.
So where am I going with this? ECTFC.
It's obvious the admins tried/try to do their best. But TFC nowadays seems to be much more about whining and flaming more than anything else. There's whine when someone BT's.
There's whine when someone hits too well. There's whine when someone uses a lame tactic.
And now there's rules that try to stop BT and lame tactics. Why? Because otherwhise people'd whine.
STOP WHINING!
Play the game as you and your team like. [I am not saying cheat and use bugs, this is something that shouldn't be allowed ofcourse]. Don't try to control the game to much with so many rules. If you have a good team, you can beat lama tactics and you can beat BT'ers. There's so much
BS going on around TFC, its pathetic.
I could write so much more, but im not gonna. I'm just gonna say: Dont whine and be a good sport, it's cool if the other team plays fair too, but dont demand it. At least you were a sport!
PS: I wrote this speaking for myself, not my clan. And with everything i say i exclude cheats/bugs etc, those should never be allowed!

i disagree with Eagle completely,
scenario:
team A play team B over 2 maps
team B win map 1 - sd2
team B then play 7 man D on team A's map. Soo although both clans cud pick 1 map each, the fact that team B played there map first gave them an advantage. I thought it was brilliant that ECTFC BANNED bt'ing and Defence's over 5 man.
However i was also sickened by a certain clan (for there own confidentiality i will refer to them as team F) team F asked another team of cheating during the ECTFC.
Unfortunately if rules r not in place there will always b those who break them. |

ok. next try:
i agree that whining because of bt or sth. ppl misunderstand as bt should be stopped, as well as certain things that also damage your own team, which is basically spam or offy vs offy.
spam as well as offy vs offy will lead to damage of your own team on one way or another. not because of rules, just because of the idea of tf, which is playing as a team that is devided into offy and def but still is one team.
using 2 hws or a demo or sth. like that is a thing which can make games more interesting because it's not just this 3 sol + eng thing.
germany used a demoman quite often in ectfc which was quite unusual but it worked out without leading to spam.
once again bt: i always have a good laugh when ppl start this bt crying because they got hit by an enemy medics ssg while running by.
perhaps ppl should just start differing, what they are actually saying.
i like the way ppl in uk play. it's more team orientated than in germany for instance. there potshooting is quite usual, even bt, fulldef but you can't fully ban potshooting as well as whining.
one offy shoots nme offy. the shot one shoots back or starts whining or everyone shoots each other until one does start crying out.
if ppl get banned from servers and leagues for shooting offy as offy on purpose, this would stop the whining someday, when everyone is banned.
but with some rule like this whining would become even louder.
eagle: i don't like it either but i think, it will not stop. in "the old days" everyone bted everyone. i got a demo of -vc- where a scout bted a hw.
bt came up with bunny and remained even if bunny does not exist any longer the way it used to.
now one tries, not to dm but it will never stop as long ppl are able to dm. :o( |

Morgz, let them 7d? In my experience, 7d is completely useless, it causes to much chaos. The rules make it impossible to 7d, i only state that you should drop the whine and certain rules, and let them 7d. There's always a way to fight it.
And Ghandi, you do not have to persuade me of anything. I don't mind BT and lam,a tactics, cuz imo its always in their disadvantage. |

hum ... consider this situation: clan a wins map1.
next map is sth. like sd2. 7 ppl could look like that:
fd hw
ramp sol
ramp sol
plank sol
fr sol
fr eng
fr/plank hw
this setup can lead to confusion but it will confront the opponent with a heavy def, which could lead to spam, but classes being able to spam need more time to get in position. or you use spies to confuse the nme def but every position has a backup, so killing 1 does not lead to proceeding to flag.
perhaps those 7d wait until there are 5 or 6 offys and then swap 1 def in order to break through the nme 2 or 3 def.
fortunately i never was confronted with that kind of setup in clanwars but i heard about it in cases where clans were in the lead and switched to 7 def.
of course there were comments about this behaviour. so stop "whining" means stopping things like "lame" tactics.
bt cries will not stop as long as ppl can shoot each other.
i always squelsh the nme team, 'cause mm1 is not forbidden where i play the way it is in eu leagues. |
