What you think your playing at? I wouldn't mind if you had a clue about web-design and could actually make some valid points concerning the website, but instead you have to march in and offend as many people as possible, well i'm offended. I dont see =BC= members going to teamshs.com and making any sort of derogatory remark concerning the site, do you? If im mistaken them please go ahead and point me to the relevant url.
A message to UncleBruce, is Nero really an appropriate choice of vice captain at shs? Surely a vice captain of a highly respected clan such as yourselves should learn when, how and why to keep his mouth firmly shut.

I think the reason he made the comments are fairly clear though - graphically it owes a lot to the SHS website, and a fair portion of the things on the BC site are virtually identical to digwar.com (e.g. the calender works and looks exactly the same; the result details page are laid out identically, down to the way you handle the screenshot links etc., several other pages are laid out exactly the same, it looks as if you're planning to have a preferences page exactly the same as digwar.com).
I think it's fairly obvious where the "influences" came from. It's just a shame you didn't choose to be more innovative, particularly since digwar.com is old and a bit "past it" (the current design is over a year old now). There's sooo much more than could be done had the authors really gone for it instead of contenting themselves with implementing concepts that have been done before and expecting people to be blown away by them. The old BC site was fairly unique; this one, no matter how nicely done, now looks a little "samey".
No doubt that will offend, and if so my apologies. I do think the authors have done a good job (I'm not a fan of the colours personally (they're nice, just not for a clan site), but that's personal preference and no doubt it'll generally be popular). I just think the authors are good enough to have designed something more original and really done themselves justice. I'm sick of seeing clan sites which just do what others have done; there are plenty more opportunities for innovation if people wanted it enough (as an example check out www.clan-sqs.com which is still only in beta form, but already kicks a great deal of ass). |

ok Revz...now that you've given som examples of similarities (:/ spelling) tell me summin.
I'm a newb concearning php or asp and i haven';t a clue on what can be done with it. Can you tell me some examples or show me some? That site you just gave seems to be down so i can't view it.
If you can show me that this site is actually "mediocre" then i'll believe you :D |

im sorry CC, but get off your high horse and stfu for a second. You say the results section is the same.. er, its a fucking results page?! the way results on BC are displayed at the moment is the clearest way possible, i doubt Life is going to modify it due to the fact its similar to yours? if you look at 99.9% of clan sites they have laid it out in a very similar way, wh00p de fucking d00? i think all these "OMG RIP OF DW" stories in the past have gone to your head.
as for taking influences from DW/SHS etc, well ofcourse thats correct, im a fucking designer IE. i look at websites, and if i like what somebody has done then i sometimes use that idea, if you look at sqs's admitedly impressive site you will notice that they have also had influences, it reminds me heavily of previous work by SpikeZ and the like. if a designer has no influences then he isnt a fucking designer :P
as for the preferences page, i dont think that was EVER your idea, without a doubt you RIPPED THAT FROM ANOTHER SITE! the calender, OOO, CRAZYCRANE IS THE FIRST EVERY PERSON TO USE A CALENDER?! pfft, BS? life and myself aren't going to pussy foot around working out what we can and cant use to avoid upsetting people, we do what we think looks best and i think this is one damn fine website, sqs has its audience, BC has theirs. as for the DW and SHS site, im sorry but ive got to say it, this outshines them in virtually every respect. |
